Webinar Description 

This presentation illustrates the connection between co-occurring disorders, relational trauma and early childhood attachment. Gaining self-awareness of deeply rooted and unconscious trauma triggers, reduces emotional dysregulation and other self-defeating behaviors, promoting health, happiness, and emotional well-being.

Learning Objectives

  1. Assess the relationship between co-occurring disorders and relational trauma and attachment ruptures.
  2. Demonstrate how attachment in early childhood impacts adult relationships and how to create a secure attachment in adulthood.
  3. Apply a simple process to heal “trauma responses” in the present to be free of the past.

Presenter Bio:


Dr. Barbara Nosal has worked in the addiction and mental health treatment field for over 20 years. She has held managerial and clinical positions in a variety of treatment settings, while maintaining a private practice in Newport Beach.

Dr. Nosal is the founding Clinical Director, and currently Chief Clinical Officer, of Newport Academy, where she oversees the treatment of adolescents, young adults and their families in residential and outpatient settings across the country.

She holds a Doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA, as well as a Master of Science in Human Services with a Concentration in Alcohol and Drug Studies from Springfield College in Springfield, MA.

Dr. Nosal is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist and Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor in California and Connecticut.
