Presentation Description:

This presentation will describe the psychological and neurobiological impact of traumatic events on both clients and clinicians. It will explain the effects of trauma and how to apply self-care methods to diminish the damage of trauma.


Participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the effects of trauma
  2. Explain the difference between normal vs. traumatic memory
  3. Apply self-care strategies

If you are paying by credit card, the receipt you receive at the end of your payment is your confirmation reservation.  ONLY check payments received by deadline will receive an email confirmation 2 days prior to event. Any payments not received by deadline are not reserved and will be considered walk-in status. Please note our cancellation policy on our registration page.

    • Course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
    • Orange County Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider #59405) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.  Orange County Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

    Course completion certificates will be awarded at the end of the program to those attendees who sign-in within 10 minutes of the program, sign-out after the program is concluded, and complete and return an evaluation form.

    Cancellations are made by leaving a message at 714-556-7129 no later than 2 days prior to the event by 6 PM. A refund less $5.00 processing fee will be returned to you. There are no refunds for cancellations made past this time.

    Presenter Bio

    Curtis C. Rouanzoin, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist (PSY 7809) and Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 8790) in Orange County, California. He has been in private practice for over 32 years, and works with a variety of concerns, ranging from trauma and PTSD to peak performance.  Dr. Rouanzoin works with and trains mental health professionals. He also consults with local businesses and health care providers.  Dr. Rouanzoin served on the Board of Directors of the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA) for 8 years. He was a founding board member and also served as EMDRIA’s second President. He chaired the Standards and Training Committee during the development of Certification in EMDR Therapy and Approved Consultant Status in EMDR Therapy, and he is the Co-President of EMDR Professional Training.  Dr. Rouanzoin taught for 22 years as a Professor of Psychology at Hope International University in Fullerton, CA. While employed there, he developed the graduate program in MFT and served as chair of the department of psychology.
