    Course Description:
    Mike Griffin, Esq, LCSW,  is presenting a 6 hour workshop that covers how clinicians can navigate the standards of practice involving telehealth, and issues to consider in the treatment of adolescents. 

    Key legal and ethical issues in Telehealth (3 hours)

    This section of the workshop will include a discussion of:

    • California regulations on the standards of practice for telehealth, as described in section 1815.5 of the California Code of Regulations
    • Ethical standards applicable to Telehealth
    • Issues involving portability, reciprocity and jurisdiction when practicing across state lines
    • Issues involving the use of telehealth by pre-licensees
    • Videoconferencing platforms and HIPAA security requirements involving the use of telehealth

    Legal and Ethical Issues applicable to the treatment of minors (3 hours)

    This section of the workshop will include a discussion of:

    • Obtaining consent for the treatment of minors
    • Confidentiality issues when treating minors
    • Limits of confidentiality when the minor provides consent; limits of confidentiality when parents/guardians provide consent
    • Issues involving access to minor’s treatment records

      • Course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
      • Orange County Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider #59405) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.  Orange County Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.


      About the Speaker

      Mike Griffin, JD

      Michael Griffin, Esq., LCSW has been a member of the CAMFT legal team since 2007. A graduate of the USC School of Social Work and Chapman University School of Law, Mr. Griffin earned his LCSW in 1982 and his California license as an Attorney in 2002. He has a broad professional background in various mental health settings (including Western Youth Services in Orange County, California, and Rady Children’s Psychiatry Dep’t in San Diego) as a clinician, administrator, supervisor, clinical case manager, school program coordinator, and outpatient clinic director, and has served as an oral examiner for LCSW candidates. In addition to his work for CAMFT, Mr. Griffin is a practicing psychotherapist with adults, adolescents and children in Laguna Niguel, California.

      Cancellations are made by leaving a message at 714-556-7129 no later than 2 days prior to the event by 6 PM.  A refund less $5.00 processing fee will be returned to you.  There are no refunds for cancellations made past this time.
