OC CAMFT Current Events"The State of The MFT Profession" with Guest Speaker Mary Riemersma, Chief Executive Director of CAMFT
Date: Friday, September 17, 2010 Check-in: Begins at 11:00 am Luncheon: 11:00 to 1:30 Location: Maggianos, South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA Earn 1 CEU The presentation will cover current state and federal legislative and regulatory matters of interest and concern to the profession, the California economic client and its impact on the profession, and what professionals can anticipate in the coming months and years. This is a fantastic luncheon that quickly fills up. There will be opportunity to address your questions. To all our prelicensed attendees, Mary will be staying for 1/2 hour after the luncheon to address your prelicensed updates and questions. All attendees are welcome to stay, but the focus is on prelicensed needs. Learning Objectives (1) Become acquainted to Association business matters. (2) Become acquainted with Regulatory matters that effect marriage and family therapists. (3) Become updated with Legislative matters as they relate to the mental health profession, including the LPC issue. Mary is the Chief Executive Director for CAMFT, a 30,000 member California-based organization. CAMFT represents the interests of California licensed marriage and family therapists. The organization has a budget of approximately $3.5 million and a staff of seventeen. She has been active in a number of leadership roles within various professional associations including having served on the Board of the American Society of Association Executives, past chair of the California Federation of Association Executives, past chair of the California Society of Association Executives where she was recognized this year as their Outstanding Association Executive, and past president of the San Diego Society of Association Executives. She has also been recognized as an ASAE Fellow, is currently serving on the US Chamber Institute for Organization Management’s Board of Trustees, and is President of the California Coalition for Mental Health. This is an open meeting that welcomes all Prelicensed members and guests to network with other Prelicensed therapists in the process of finishing graduate school, earning hours, and preparing for examinations.
